It's great to be back on the road

It's September already!  Where did that year go?  Oh, wait, I think we know.  But it's great to be back on the road and welcoming visitors to the Peak District again.  Maybe there's never been a better time to book a unique, private, Peak District experience with Live For The Hills...

It's reassuring, in a funny way, that the natural landscape just carries on its cycle, regardless of the pressures of social distancing, lockdowns and pandemics.  After a turbulent year, to say the least, it's September 1st as I write this and the Peak District is looking glorious, revelling in the few weeks of the late summer when the hills and moors of the Dark Peak turn into a sea of purple heather, contrasting evocatively with the protruding crags and boulders of grey gritstone that punctuate the landscape.

As travel restrictions have made international trips more difficult, this has become the late summer of the Staycation.  Since the lockdown was lifted, the Peak District national park has welcomed back visitors from all across the UK.  Where better to enjoy social distancing than the 555 square miles of countryside, tantalisingly close to Manchester and Sheffield?

As you can see from the pictures above, which were taken during the August Bank Holiday weekend, there are plenty of opportunities to feel like the only person on the entire landscape.  Just what the doctor ordered!

Almost all of our Peak District tours are now able to run as normal, taking particular care to comply with guidance on social distancing and the latest safety advice.  Our Pride and Prejudice tours are the exception, as many of the houses featured in those tours remain closed currently.  We're looking forward to being able to offer those tours again soon.

Pride and Prejudice fans can still incorporate a little bit of their favourite subject onto our tours though!  We can still visit Stanage Edge to re-enact that scene with Keira Knightley, or the famous boulder featured in the BBC dramatised version.  So, all is not lost!

Our bespoke tours, scenic tours and photography tours are available throughout the year.  There is a warm welcome waiting for you in the beautiful Peak District so have a look at the range of tours we offer here.
