Frequently Asked Questions
Can my tour begin earlier or later?
Yes of course. Our full day tours last around 7 hours and we suggest a meet up time around 10am. If you would prefer an earlier or later start then you only need to ask and we will be delighted to help if we can. Our tours are tailor made for our customers so there are no pressures of time.
Where do we need to meet?
If you are staying in the Peak District area, we can pick you up from the door of your accommodation, or your preferred location, for no extra charge. If you are travelling to the area by train then we suggest Sheffield or Chesterfield. We can meet you at the station - you just need to select the "add-on" during the booking process. If your plans change you can just let us know and we can sort out an amended plan for you.
We can also provide transfers nationwide. If you would like us to pick you up in London, Oxford, York or Edinburgh for example, feel free to let us know and we can quote a price for you.

What about lunch? Can I bring my own food and drink?
Lunch is payable locally. We know all of the best tea rooms, cafes and traditional country pubs in the national park so we can recommend any to suit any particular dietary requirements. Or, if you would like to bring your own food along, that is fine too.
I'm travelling from London. What is the best way to arrange this?
There is a direct train from London St Pancras to Chesterfield, which is only around 20 minutes drive from the national park. The train takes less than 2 hours so it is quite possible to travel up north on the morning of the tour and we can meet you at the railway station. We can adjust the timings of the day to fit in with your travel arrangements,.
Are the tours private or mixed groups?
All of our tours are for private bookings for 1-6 passengers. That way, we can ensure that the day is tailor made around our customers' preferences. It also allows us to be completely flexible with regards the itinerary, so if you have a last minute desire to swap, say Chatsworth House for Haddon Hall, then we can do that for you.
I am travelling alone. Are the tours suitable for me?
Yes. We have lots of customers who travel alone, from all around the world.
Are the tours suitable for customers with limited mobility?
Yes. Providing that you are able to get in and out of a car, you should be fine. We can fit a folding wheelchair or a light mobility scooter in the vehicle. All our short walks are optional and we can access some wonderful viewpoints without venturing far from the vehicle. All of the country houses that we visit have good facilities for those with mobility issues. We always go the extra mile to ensure that all of our customers feel comfortable and enjoy their experience to the fullest, no matter their age or their level of fitness.
Are the tours family friendly?
Yes, children are very welcome, accompanied by an adult of course. We know some great places in the national park for kids of all ages, as well as the best ice cream and sweet shops!
Do you offer tours for larger groups?
We have limited our automated bookings to a maximum of 6 passengers as we are in the process of transferring to electric vehicles. However, if you are looking to book one of our tours for a larger group, we can try and help with that too. Please email us at tours@liveforthehills.com and we will be happy to provide a quote.
