Fans of Colin Firth's Mr Darcy can rejoice at last! We've been sharing a 3 day tour for fans of the 2005 Keira Knightley movie version of Pride and Prejudice but, until now, those who prefer the earlier version starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle have only been able to enjoy a 1 day tour. We're excited to be able to offer our brand new 3 day experience. Details of all the locations that we visit are included on our booking page. We can include more photos here and give you some ideas of where to stay. This tour uniquely has an opportunity to stay in two locations that were used for filming. These are, of course, subject to separate availability but we'll set out all the details, as well as some alternatives that we recommend, below. Where to Stay?We recommend meeting in Bath on day 1. Bath is a beautiful city with close connections to Jane Austen. She lived in the city between 1801 and 1806 and the city features prominently in two of her novels; Persuasion and Northanger Abbey. If you are able to arrive earlier on the previous day, you might enjoy a visit to the Jane Austen Centre. If you prefer to stay in London, we can offer a transfer option although this would need an earlier start. This can be selected during the booking process. At the end of day 1, things can get very interesting! You could stay in the building used as Mr Collins' parsonage. You can even stay in Elizabeth's bedroom, (complete with the cupboard with the shelves...) and have breakfast in the room where Darcy proposed. You can google Teigh Old Rectory or book via www.booking.com to check for availability. If the rectory isn't available, you might like to stay in the historic town of Stamford nearby. This was the town used as Meryton in the 2005 version (the "other" version!). The most prominent hotel there, which was used by the cast of the movie during filming, is the George Hotel. https://www.georgehotelofstamford.com/ By the end of day 2, we have arrived in the Peak District. For those wanting to stay as close to the filming locations as possible, you can stay in the actual former inn which was used as the Lambton Inn. It's now called the Red Bull at Longnor and is available on Airbnb and booking.com. The owners are lovely and the property has recently been beautifully restored. At the end of day 3, there are good direct train services between the Peak District and London if you're heading straight there. Macclesfield, Stockport or Chesterfield all provide direct trains to London. We also offer transfers anywhere in the country if you'd prefer to sit back and let us take you to your next accommodation. If the option you need isn't on the booking page feel free to ask and we'd love to help.
Finally, here are some more pictures of some of the locations on the tour...
